(ENG170) -  Βασιλική Οικονομίδου

Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

The aim of this e-workshop is to familiarize participants with writing task design, teaching and assessment in the EFL classroom. Since EFL writing has been considered a difficult and challenging process, it is important that we teach it effectively so as to help our learners overcome any difficulties they face. Through the workshop participants will be exposed to different types of writing tasks and they will be provided with guidelines so as to design effective and fair EFL writing tasks. Participants will also practise developing writing lesson plans for the EFL classroom as well as evaluating scripts that Greek learners of English have actually produced on the basis of a rating scale and assessment criteria. The workshop consists of the following four modules: 1) Types of writing tasks, 2) Writing task design, 3) Teaching writing in the EFL classroom – lesson planning, 4) Assessing writing.

Participants will be evaluated on the basis of (a) participation in group discussions through the forum of the e-class platform, (b) completion of quizzes, (c) small weekly assignments, and (d) the quality of a larger project.
